The passing of Ena Gladys (Langille) Crossman occurred on Wednesday January 24th, 2018 at her home at Wynn Park Villa. Born in Amherst on July 5th, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Meikle) Langille.
In her earlier years Ena was an outstanding baseball player. Her team, the Amherst Redwings, won the ladies provincial championship and was honoured by the town of Amherst for their achievement. In 1940 she married the love of her life Raymond (Bunny) Crossman of Moncton. Together they enjoyed their life to the fullest, living and working in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Retiring in Amherst, she was an active member of the Salvation Army and the Ladies Home League. After her husband’s passing, Ena moved to Truro and then back to Amherst where she resided at White Birches. She made her final home at Wynn Park Villa in Truro, to be near her family.
Ena loved exploring the back roads with Bunny, storytelling, children, music of all types, singing harmony, and above all she adored her family.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Raymond, infant son Raymond, brothers Cecil (Myrtle), Edward (Eva), Joseph (Bessie & Jean), sisters Leota McKiel (Albert), Ethel Shaen (James). She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 29th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. and will be conducted by the Salvation Army, Major Max Snow accordance with Ena’s wishes, all held in Campbell’s Funeral Home Chapel, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 67-9906. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
