WOOD, Reva Viola - age 94 of Inglisville, NS passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Inglisville, she was a daughter of the late Robie and Orabel (Best) McGill. Reva has been very active in the Inglisville community serving on many committees. She was the longest standing active church member for over 79 years, always the first to arrive and the last to leave. Baking was something she loved to do and always had a huge basket of baking for all events and you would often hear someone say, “Where are Reva’s beans?” She has been a member of the HELPING HANDS for approximately 28 years and the last couple of years the meetings were held in her home. For close to 50 years, readers of the Mirror Examiner newspaper, which was later known as the Annapolis County Spectator, have enjoyed her articles which focused on Inglisville’s news. She volunteered for the Cancer Society for 10 years and was a member of The Eastern Star for several years. Reva was acknowledged for her volunteerism in 2008. Reva will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Geraldine “Gerry” (Danny) Whitman of Nictaux; sons Vance (Linda) Wood and Basil Wood both of Inglisville; grandchildren: Jacqueline Whitman of Nictaux; Lonnie (Sandra) Whitman of Scarborough, ON; Lisa (Steven) Barteaux of Nictaux; William “Billy” Whitman of Grand Prairie, AB and Devin Wood (Tessa Bourke) of Kingston; great grandchildren: Samantha Pearson, Jordyn Pearson, Quintin Whitman and Raelin Barteaux; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Reva was predeceased by her husband Forrest Wood; daughter Shirley in infancy; son Earl; sisters Edna and Marie; brothers Reginald, Carroll and Eldon. In keeping with Reva’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Reva’s memory may be made to the Inglisville United Baptist Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
