With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Marion MacLeod-Woodburn on Monday, February 5, 2018. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born on February 14, 1948, Ronnie was the daughter of the late Ronald and Mary Barron.
Ronnie’s kindness, giving spirit and relentless inner strength were an inspiration to those who knew her. She loved and enjoyed the simple things in life and saw the world through the eyes of a child. For all who knew Ronnie she had a special love for animals, enjoyed picking blueberries, baking, crocheting and doing crafts. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Ronnie is survived by her husband, John ‘Jack’ Woodburn; children, Patti Ann (Clyde), Arnold, Kent (Joanne) and Lisa (Billy); loving and faithful pet, Casey, and six step-children, Gary (Linda), Earl, John, Barbara (Emerson), Pam (Darren) and Cindy (Paul). She is also survived by brothers, Bobby (Pearl), Gerard (Josephine) and Jimmy (Rose); sisters, Joyce (Randy), Mary Agnes, Bessie (Jimmy), and sister-in-law, Jocelyn. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ronnie was predeceased by her brother, Bert Barron; sister in infancy; niece, Robin Nadine, and former husband, Wayne MacLeod.
Visitation and funeral service to celebrate the life of Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Marion MacLeod-Woodburn will be held in Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, February 10, 2018. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4 - 6 p.m. with service to follow at 6 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the funeral service. Burial in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery, Ingonish, at a later date.
Donations in memory of Ronnie may be made to charity of one’s choice.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the kindness of the staff of An Cala Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Seliba and all the family and friends, especially her bestie, Carol and brother Jim and Rose, for going above and beyond with helping her. We would also like to thank Father Paul Murphy and a special thank you to the
workers of City Homemakers for making Ronnie comfortable during her battle with cancer.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
