Mildred 'Millie' Thompson

Mildred ‘Millie’ Thompson, 86 of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at The Terrace at Solarbron Senior Living Center.
She was born February 2, 1931, to the late Horace and Emily (Caines) Allen in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
She worked for the Heart Association and the March of Dimes, as a door-to-door solicitor, and taught knitting at the YWCA and Sears Knitting Schools, Millie wished that no black clothes be worn to her services, instead please were bright colored clothing.
Millie is survived by her sons, Brent Thompson (Wendie), of Wisconsin and Kane Thompson, of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Jeremy and Gary Miller, Jeremy, Cory, Kasey, and Brady Thompson; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor ‘Nellie’ Bambury, of Newfoundland, and Aleta Edmunds, of North Sydney, Cape Breton; and brothers, Phillip Allen (Sandy) and Joe Allen, both of Oshawa, Ontario.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Connie; and brother-in-law, Vern.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10 am at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 2800 St. Phillips Road South, Evansville, IN 47712. A meal followed the celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, 1202 W Buena vista Rd. #107, Evansville,

Mildred’s Canadian family attending her party were her sister, Aleta Allen Edmunds; her two nephews, Glenn Edmunds, NS and Kurt Edmunds, Nelson, BC; her two nieces, Brenda Wilcox and Wanda Lahti from Oshawa, ON who organized the road trip and kept us on track. Thank you.
