Alexander (Alex) Hugh Chishlom

Alexander (Alex) Hugh Chisholm, age 74, passed away on January 24, 2018 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. Alex was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia Canada to Ernest and Annie Chisholm. He made a career in Healthcare - both hospital and research settings at DBL in Nova Scotia. While living in Nova Scotia, he enjoyed many sports - hockey, baseball, judo and curling. Alex was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping. In his retirement, he moved to Florida where he enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Annie Chisholm, brothers Clarence, Alfred, Ernest and John and his beloved wife Lynda. He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie (Wade) Beasley and Alexandra (Jonathan) Burns, sisters Joan Connors, Kathleen (Jim) Fitzpatrick, Ilene (John) Chisholm, grandchildren Connor and Emerson and fondly remembered as Grandpa Alex to Wade (Jacy), Audra(Mike), Preston, Zachery, Chiara, Brandon, Erika, Brittany, Wyatt, Hunter, Aryssa, Evan and Preston Jr. and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A family Celebration of Life will be held in Arcadia, Florida on February 24, 2018 at 3PM with internment to follow later this year in Nova Scotia where his final resting place will be beside his wife. Arrangements facilitated by National Cremation Society. Tremendous, heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fawcett Memorial Hospital who not only provided exceptional care in his final days, but also provided a peaceful, compassionate environment for Alex to transition from this life to the next. Those who so desire may make memorials in memory of Alex to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Written by Alex at the passing of his wife, Lynda - I know the sound the ocean makes by dawn, by night, by day. But will it hold me in its stead when I am far away.
