Mary Bridget Dickson

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Mary Bridget (Gosse) Dickson, announce her passing on February 12, 2018 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay in the loving embrace of her daughter and surrounded by the love of her family. Born in November 27, 1925, in Torbay, NF, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary ‘Mida’ Gosse.
Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, Charles Austin Dickson, her granddaughter, Emily O’Brien Dickson, her brothers, Leo and Alfred Gosse, sisters, Anne and Margaret ‘Peg’ Campbell and her son-in-law Elmer Doncaster. Left to mourn her loss are her daughters, Wanda, Sydney; and Gloria Doncaster, Charlottetown, PEI and sons, Charles, Brandon, MB; Alan (Ruth Anne), Singapore; Stephen (Flora), Bedford, and Jeffrey (Corrie), Eastern Passage, as well as 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her sister, Teresa (Bob) Evans, Truro; brother, Maurice (Marie), Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Mom devoted her life to her husband and children, and could always be found in the kitchen where the smell of freshly baked bread and her famous molasses cookies often greeted family and visitors to her home. She was an accomplished knitter, and her mitts and socks were eagerly awaited by many at the ‘Tea & Sales’ she donated them too. Mom was always up to date on current affairs and a lover of books and poetry and instilled in us all a love of reading. She was a lifelong member of the CWL at her parish of St. Joseph’s and the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch #12, Royal Canadian Legion. To our family and friends, thank you for all your kind words, prayers and hugs. To the staff of Seaview Manor, thank you for treating our Mom like your own and filling her days there with love and laughter, and to Dr. Mark Elleker for his compassionate care in her final days. Mom is now in the arms of her dear Charlie, and with her brothers and sisters sharing childhood memories of Torbay. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church on Tuesday, February 20 at 11 a.m. with Father Bill Burke officiating. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in Mom’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Mom, we will forever miss you. You will live in our hearts and be remembered with love. Online condolences may be sent to www.twcurry.com.
