Obituary
Muriel Ann Penney Moorcroft

Muriel Ann Penney (Wilcox) Moorcroft (1945-2018) passed away peacefully on January 28, 2018 at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Hartland, NB. Muriel was happily settled in Bedell, NB for the past several years with the love of her life, her devoted husband, Herb. Herb will mourn her loss along with their daughters, Lesley Ann (Dwayne) Andrews of Sydney, NS, and Kelly (Scott) Richardson of Ottawa, ON. Her grandchildren, the light of her life, David, Ian and Meredith, will miss their grandmother’s love, sewing, knitting, cooking and spoiling. Muriel was predeceased by her parents, Leslie Wilcox and Janet (Penney) Wilcox and leaves behind her brother Fred (Sandra) Wilcox, along with extended family. Muriel spent the majority of her life in Gander, Newfoundland, where she worked for Newfoundland Telephone, took care of many children, and eventually owned and operated Moor-Crafts and Gifts, a business she took to new levels with her dedication, pride and outstanding customer service. Muriel loved to sew and knit and was known for her beautiful quilts and hand knit socks. Muriel faced several health issues throughout her life and fought through many battles with a will beyond her small size. She now no longer suffers and is at peace. The family would like to thank the incredible kindness that was shown to Muriel and the whole family during her illnesses from the many community members, neighbors and incredible healthcare team. Donations in Muriel’s memory may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or to a charity of one’s choice. Muriel’s family invites those who knew her to a visitation at The Carleton Funeral Home & Crematorium 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
