Passed on: February 16th, 2018

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Annie (Strong) MacLean, peacefully, at home on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the age of 62.
Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on September 20, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Chesley and Florence (Gregory) Strong. Barbara worked at the Sydney Mines Library for 18 years.
Barbara was a quiet woman who spent her days with her loving husband Melvin and their two fur babies Moochie the cat and B-way the dog. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and the many children that came to the library. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing Facebook games. Barbara will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Melvin; her daughters, Chrissy (Andrew), Charity and Karen, and her grandchildren, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Alex and Cooper. Also left to mourn are her many siblings, twin Bonnie (Darrell), Chesley (Allison), Lorraine (Clarence), Linda, Maxine (Gary), Charlotte (Jeff), William (Yolanda), Lisa, Paula (Carey) and Krin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Lester, David and Gregory; sister, Elizabeth, and brother-in-law, Manning.
Visitation for Barbara will be held today (Tuesday), February 20, 2018, in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will take place at a later date.
