Lilly Wood

Our beloved Lilly Belle, the rarest of beauties, on February 18, 2018, moved along God's golden path to join the greatest love of all. Lilly Wood (Thompson) was born to Edna and Arnold Wood on November 9, 1928 in Howlan, Prince Edward Island, where she grew, taught, laughed, loved, and cared for others. She is survived by two siblings Ruth MacNeill (Lorne) and Andrew Wood (Marge) both of P.E.I. Predeceased by her brothers Colston, George, Billy, Ernie and her sister Ruby. As a young mother in Belleville Ontario she helped to raise four very blessed and grateful children, Linda, Debbie (Ian), Janice (Tom) and Don (Lisa). She had six cherished grandchildren and five beautiful great grandchildren. Throughout her life she brought grace and laughter and kindness everywhere she went. Even in the lowest of times there was always room for laughter in Lilly's life. For a number of years she worked and spread her love and sweetness with the children of the Ontario School for the Deaf in Belleville. Always thinking of others first, she put her loving hands and creative genius to work designing, growing, sewing, building, painting and producing gifts to make the world an even more beautiful place for us all to live. She was an accomplished human being. In lieu of flowers, please plant a birch tree in her memory somewhere important to you, something she did many times. A gift to St. Patrick's Long Term Care Home in Ottawa where she received such tender care would also be welcomed. Sleep in heavenly peace dear Lilly Belle. An intimate service will be held at Parkdale United Church in Ottawa at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24th. A Celebration of Life will take place in August in P.E.I.
