It is with great sadness we the family announce the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather, Alfred MacMullen, on February 28, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Alfred was the son of the late Dan Alex and Carrie (Wadden) MacMullen, Donkin. Alfred was a coal miner and worked in #20, #26 and Prince Collieries until his retirement. He was a past member of the Independent Order of Oddfellow, Martins Lodge, Donkin. Alfred is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Harriett and Kevin Moss; grandchildren, Breagh and Kyle Moss (Port Caledonia; brother, Donald (London, Ontario); sister, Catherine Ryan (Sydney); sister-in-law, Joyce Holden (Port Caledonia) and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his wife, Eileen (Holden); brothers, Thomas (Minnie), James (Martha), Gordon (Bernadette), Hartland (in infancy), sister Margaret (Phillip MacDonald), sister-in-law Effie MacMullen, brothers-in-law, Gerald Ryan and George Holden and niece Jackie Robertson. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Monday March 5,2018 at 2 p.m. in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Port Caledonia with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery Fund or a charity of one’s choice. A reception to follow in the church basement.
