Léo S. Arsenault

It is with great sadness that the family of Léo S. Arsenault announces his passing on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E., at the age of 83 years. Born in Abram-Village on November 23, 1934, he was a son of the late Sylvère J.F. and Émilia Arsenault and husband of the late Marie Eva (Gallant) Arsenault. He is the cherished father of Murielle, Greenwood, N.S., Jean-Guy (Claudette), Abram-Village, Gilles, Abram-Village, an infant daughter, the late Suzzette and special friend of Ella Caissie, Miscouche. He is survived by sisters Beatrice (Donald)Cavanaugh, Etobicoke ON, and Lorraine (Martin) Gallant, Mont Carmel. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Arthémise (late Alfred) Gallant, Euclide (Éliza) Gallant, Elda (late Ken) Capson, ON, Lorraine (Roger) Arsenault, Aurele (Ruth) Gallant, ON, Maurice (Vi) Gallant, Claire (Jean-Paul) Arsenault as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Joe Arsenault (Marjorie Walker) and in-laws Zenon and Beatrice Gallant. A life-long dairy farmer, he was known as Léo S. He was quite involved in his community and the farming industry. He was president and board member of ADL, L’Exposition Agricole, the former Unit Five School Board, a board member of the Farm Dept Review, Farm Machinery, PEI Artificial Breeders as well as a member of Holstein Canada and of Club 50. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville until Monday, March 5th, then to the St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 4th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Léo’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Egmont Bay Cemetery fund or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
