Retired dairy farmer from Torbay Road, passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Pleasant View Towers on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018. Predeceased by his parents Valance and Mary (Codner) Field; baby brother Ronnie Field; brother Phil Field; sister Laura Carter; parents-in-law Walter and Mary Skinner; sisters-in-law Florence Field and Margaret Skinner; brothers-in-law, Ches Dawe and Charles Skanes; and family friend Carrie Allen. Eric was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and a proud member of the Royal St. John's Regatta Hall of Fame (Rowing Category). Eric leaves with fond and loving memories his wife Helen (nee Skinner); loving son Ronald (Leann); his dearly loved grandson Eric; sister Mildred Skanes; brother and life-long business partner Les Field; sisters-in-law Frances Field, Mary (Bill) Codner, Tish (John) Lane, Brenda (Uli) Huber, Genie (Max) Evans, Joanne (Ralph) Tapper and Eileen Skinner; brothers-in-law Gus Carter, Walter (Barbara) Skinner, Pat (Phyllis) Skinner and Bill Skinner (Kay) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thank you to Mildred Skanes, Les Field, Robert Field, Bill Roche and Hector Williams for your love and support during Eric's battle with Alzheimers. At Eric's request cremation has taken place. Visitation at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's on Thursday, March 8th and Friday, March 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Thomas' Church on Saturday March 10th at 2:30 pm with interment to follow at Forest Road Anglican Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Eric's memory may be made to the Rainbow Riders.
