Kenneth ‘Les’ Stubbert

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved Kenneth ‘Les’ Stubbert, age 77, on March 7, 2018.
Born May 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Peter Edward Stubbert and Lucinda MacKenzie.
Les was a lobster fisherman before 38 years he spent as a coal miner. He was a Harbourview Hospital board member, a Northside School Board member, he was Vice President of the United Maritimes Workers of America and a longtime member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 8. Les was a prankster who loved to joke around with everyone he knew.
Les was a loving husband to Garland for 60 years, and father to Susan (Barry), Marlene (Gervy) and Garlie (Gerry); grampy to Marshall (Sherry), Lesley, Norman, Suzanne, Barry, Gabriella, Kayla, Krissy, Clyde, Randy, Travis, Brandon, Michelle, and Kenneth, and great-grampy to Hope, Riley, Athena and Les. Also survived by siblings, Mina, Barbara, Faye, Juanita and Angus.
Besides his parents, Les was predeceased by children, Kenneth, Sheldon-Wayne, and Shelly (Freeman), and by siblings, Weslie, Joe, Sandra and Ebbie.
At this time the family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Wawer, Dr. Ferguson and all the nurses and staff on 2nd floor at the Northside General Hospital. Also a special thank you to Dwayne Jessome.
There will be a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Clyde Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Barron officiating.
