SMITH, Curtis Conrad, - 78, of Yarmouth passed away on February 26, 2018 at Treasured Memories, Yarmouth. It is with heavy hearts that we say good bye to Curtis. Born on January 24, 1940 in East Chebogue, NS, the son of the late Donald and Francelia (Nickerson). He is survived by his loving son, Donald and Ilona of Port Maitland, brother Neil (Jean), of Arcadia, sister Esther (Otis) Jacquard of Yarmouth, nieces; Tracy (Greg) Flemming, Trina Cook; nephews Brandon Smith, Yarmouth, Dyson
(Nicole) Smith, Bridgewater and many cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Edythe Audrey (Wathen) of Tusket and his daughter Elizabeth Anne of Toronto, Ontario.
Curtis spent 30 years living in Toronto, Ontario where he was employed by AVIS Car & Truck Rentals as well as for Hollowell Ambulance & Funeral Home. He was also employed by Five Wheel Truck Rental Ltd. and Addison Cadillac on Bay Street. While acting as a Boy Scout Leader, Curtis and Donald spent many years enjoying camping and other outdoor activities. Curtis moved back to Arcadia in 1992 after his wife passed away and spent his time enjoying gardening - he had such a green thumb, he could make anything grow! Going up to the “Camp” was one of the most pleasant ways to spend the summer and fall months - fishing, hunting and “running the roads” looking for deer. As his health started to deteriorate, Curtis decided
he needed some help and agreed to live at “Treasured Memories” on Elm Street, Yarmouth. His extended family - Shelley Reardon and her wonderful, kind and loving staff, treated Curtis like family and we thank you for all the love and special care given to Dad. A special thank you to Dr. Al-Khalidi, Dr. Lamond, Margo Judge, Dr. Riley, Paula Watkins, Dr. Ago, the Tri-County VON. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth where cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1:00pm in Sweeny’s Chapel with Rev. Bill Newell officiating. Burial will take place at the Tusket Cemetery following the service. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Tri-County VON or the Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund. On-line condolences may be sent to: sweenysfh@eastlink.ca or you may sign the guestbook on-line at: www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
