Baie Verte, N.B.- It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Ian Murray on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Ian passed away at the age of 90, with his loving family by his side.
Born on April 6, 1927 in Trinidad and Tobago, he was the son of the late Sadie (Robinson) and George Murray.
Ian was a Merchant Marine during WWII and was a past Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge. Ian was very generous throughout his lifetime, volunteering and giving to many charities and foundations. Ian enjoyed gardening, making fish chowder and pies and he loved to travel with his wife, Joan, going on many trips and adventures during their life together.
Ian will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Joan (Fillmore) Murray; his son, Chris Murray and his wife, Carla Middelburg; his grandson, Matthew Boles; his granddaughter, Anna Murray and her husband, Frederic Theriault; his brother, Donald Murray, as well as by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his daughter, Kathleen Murray, as well as by his sisters, Betty and Jean.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. A time of remembrance will take place at the funeral home on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6-8 pm and all are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ian may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Red Cross or to the charity of one’s choice.
