DILL, Janet (Newlands) - 89, of Kentville. With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Dill on Saturday, May 14, 2011 in Grand View Manor, Berwick, with her family by her side. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 9, 1921, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Patterson) Newlands. She had been employed as a Civil Servant in the dietary department of the former Nova Scotia Sanatorium, Kentville. She later worked in housekeeping in the nurse’s dormitory and then in the laundry department at the former Miller Hospital, Kentville, retiring in 1986. Janet will be sadly missed by her family and best friends, Isabel Corbin, Lillian Spencer and Nancy Spencer. Janet is survived by two daughters, Judy Dill; Connie Dill, Cambridge; two sons, Allan (Carol) Dill and Terrence (Pamela) Dill, both of Kentville; six grandchildren, Terry Dill, Rose Spencer (Mike Bigney), Holly Everett (Kirby Sanford), Angela (Robert Saunders), Connie (Tony Mailman) and James Dill (Megan Leslie); nine great grandchildren, Julia, Kirkland, Broc, Lexie, Lorieann, Rebecca “Becky”, Hayley, Jessie and Geofrey; a sister, Margaret (Melvin Lake), East Walton; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Newlands, Ancaster, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Russell Dill, a brother, James Newlands; a great grandson, Brandon Fuller (Dill). Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, Reverend Doctor Judith Saunders officiating. Burial took place in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Donations in memory may be made to Grand View Manor.
