Mom passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 1, 2018 with her children at her side. Betty was born in Sydney Mines, July 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes (Donovan) Williams.
In her earlier years she was a stay-at-home Mom who loved sewing and baking; her apple pie was second to none. Later in life she worked as a medical secretary. She and dad enjoyed traveling, with many family vacations to New Brunswick, Quebec and Massachusetts. Their favorite vacation places were Arizona and Florida.
Mom will be missed by her two daughters, Doreen (John) Mertens, Elizabeth (Jack) Penny; her only son, Tom (Helen) Godreau and son-in-law, Ron Cassell. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keith, Mandy, Brent, Genevieve, TJ, and Donald as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Nelson; daughter, Jeannette Cassell; twin daughters, Mary and Marie in infancy and grandson, Ryan. Betty was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Woodford and the staff of Alderwood Guest Home for their wonderful care over the years, Mom called Alderwood “Home”. We would also like to thank the staff for the kindness and compassion shown to us over the last few weeks. You are all angels.
Visitation will take place at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Tuesday, April 3rd.
