Mary Frances (Mae) Hamilton

Hamilton, Mary Frances (Mae), 82, Tatamagouche; It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Mother was called to Heaven on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Willow Lodge Tatamagouche. Born in Monastery, Antigonish County, she was a daughter of the late Agnes (Breen) Cotie, and step-father, Charles Cotie. Mary was a long-time resident of Upper Brookside. She was a former employee of Stanfield’s Ltd. Truro, and retired from the N.S.A.C.. She was also an animal enthusiast. She is survived by daughters, Freda Hamilton (David MacGregor), Thorburn, Donna (Doug) Casey, Porters Lake, Delores Burke (John Begg), Halifax; son, Robert Hamilton, Upper Brookside; sister, Theresa (Kitty) Cameron, North River; brother, Warren Breen, Monastery; grandchildren, Monica, Christopher, Carly, Justin; six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter, Maxine, and son, Charles, both in infancy; brother, Donald Breen, and his son, Donnie. Mary’s family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at Willow Lodge, for all their compassion, and great care, given to our mother and ourselves, during mom’s stay there. Visitation will be held 6 – 8 pm Wednesday, April 4, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Thursday, April 5, in the Immaculate Conception Church Truro, 669 Prince Street Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating, with a reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Interment to be held at a later date in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Robie Street Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Willow Lodge Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia Lung Association, or to a charity of your choice.
