Sadie MacLeod

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sadie MacLeod on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at The Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family. Born in Framboise on September 22, 1928, Sadie was the daughter of the late ‘Red’ John Allan and Mary Ann (MacLeod) MacLeod.
She was a member of the Mira Seniors and Pensioners, was an avid quilter and knitter, famous for her mittens and socks. She was also a dedicated Volunteer in her community helping out wherever she was needed.
Sadie is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Willie) MacLeod and Catherine (Roy) MacIntyre, Marion Bridge and Marina (Ron) Seifried, Ontario; sons, Donald MacIntyre, Marion Bridge and John (Regina) MacInytre, Sydney; sisters, Peggy Mason, Dolena Brown, Donalda (Earl) Drysdale and Mary (Sonny) Blackmore; brothers, Billy, Angus (Alice) and John James (Renee); brother-in-law, Earl MacPherson; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Tanya (Chris), Michelle (Kevin), Lisa, Heather, Jonah, Nicole, Bradley L. and Bradley S., and great-grandchildren, who knew her as Mimi, Riley, Myah, Autumn, Sebastian, Cleo, Kayleigh, Kira, Aiden, Carter and Ava.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry MacIntyre; sisters and their husbands, Effie (Lester) MacLeod, Evelyn (Peter) MacLeod, Christie (John) Holmes and Annie MacPherson; grandson, Jason Seifried, and sister-in-law, Christine MacLeod.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff in the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit, the VON and Homecare staff for the care and compassion provided to our mother.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Columba Church, Marion Bridge on Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating. Interment in Zion Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit.
