Joseph Leslie Topshee

With sadness, we announce the passing of Joseph Leslie Topshee (Joey) at 69 years of age. He passed away peacefully in the Cardiology Unit of the QEII Health Sciences Centre on Friday, April 13. Joey was born and raised in Truro, the son of Leslie Topshee, Sydney, and Margaret Topshee, Sydney. He attended Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, where he received a Bachelor of Commerce degree (‘71) and a Bachelor of Education degree (’72). He worked as an educator for 11 years, before entering into a career of sales. He was a dedicated athlete throughout his high school years, and continued with sports throughout his adult life. He was an avid golfer, and participated in numerous championships and tournaments at the Mountain Golf Club and the Truro Golf Club. He won the Mountain Golf Club Championship in his younger years. He was also a supportive hockey and baseball parent, never missing a practice or game. He moved to P.E.I. to be with his loving partner Patsy whom he married in 2012. While on PEI he met a number of great friends especially his golfing buddies Wayne, Gary, Alan and John. Joey is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne MacDougall Topshee (Patsy); his children Jamie (Katyana), Calgary; Heather (Duncan), Halifax; his step children Ronald (Michelle) MacDougall, West Royalty; Darren (Chelsea) MacDougall, Stratford; and Neisha (Scott) Fisher, Stratford; his siblings, Nancy (Kirk), Maine; Colin (Patricia), Wentworth; Mary (John), Halifax; Ron (Lisa), Virginia; Patricia (Scott), Lunenburg; Stephen (Sarah), Truro; Michael (Margot), Halifax; and 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Leslie and Margaret Topshee, Truro; his sister Teresa (Jeff), Dartmouth; and brother John (Candace), Winnipeg. A celebration of life will be held at Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. If so desired memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of PEI.
