John Leslie Osborne

Born: June 16th, 1955

John Leslie Osborne, age 62, Little Narrows, Victoria Co. It is with the deepest of regret that we announce the passing of a beautiful person, John Leslie Osborne. Johnny was born to the late Earl ‘Doddie’ and Thelma (Simms) Osborne on June 16, 1955.
A native of Glace Bay, Johnny found his lifelong home with his soul mate of 41 years, Betty Ann (MacKinnon) in Little Narrows. He enjoyed a 36 year career with the Department of Transportation as Captain of the Little Narrows Ferry. Johnny was an energetic and accomplished man, always on the move, but his greatest enjoyment was having fun experiences with his family, near and far.
Fondly known as Johnny O or Poppy, he is survived by his wife, Betty Ann; four children, Daniel (Natasha) and former wife (Maggie), Shaun (Angela), Lisa (Kyle Taylor) and Brett; five grandchildren, Hailey, Nataly, Layla, Noah and Ethan, and his three siblings, Cathy, Robert and Shauna (Tom DeDieu). Johnny also was lucky to still enjoy the company of his aunt, Brenda (Bill); uncles, Gord, Arthur (Rose), John (Helen) and Jim (Maureen); along with his special nieces and nephews and so many wonderful cousins.
He was the tie that bound us together. We know that Johnny was welcomed to the loving arms of his predecessors, his parents, grandparents and father-in-law. He will be forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday from Little Narrows Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating. Burial in Little Narrows Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com.
