It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, aunt, and sister-in-law, Donna McIsaac at the Glace Bay Hospital on April 18, 2018. Donna left this world as she lived in it, quietly, peacefully, and without fanfare.
Donna was the daughter of Dan Joe and Edna (Petrie) McIsaac of New Aberdeen. Donna was a CCA and worked at the Victoria Heaven Nursing Home for over 25 years. She enjoyed her work and will be missed by her colleagues and the residents she cared so much for.
Donna was a devoted and caring daughter, a supportive sister through all of life’s events. Donna was a favorite aunt to many of her nieces and nephews, as babies and toddlers they had a natural attraction to her and over the years she spent a great deal of her time with them. She was always in on their stories and jokes’, playing video games with her nephews, she was their friend and confidante, and for they knew in Donna they had a pleasant and trusting ally.
Donna liked to travel with her family; her favorite destinations were Disney World and New York City, highlighted by watching the Jersey Boys show on Broadway. She also enjoyed card games, crossword puzzles and most importantly a good laugh. Donna loved music and was a terrific dancer, she was natural. Donna loved Trivial Pursuit and taught her nieces and nephews to love it as well. She loved so much the annual McIsaac Family Christmas Trivial Pursuit game, the girls vs. the boys; guess who always won?
Donna is survived by her sisters, Leone McIsaac, Debbie (Jim) MacLellan, Marley (Elroy) McNeil, Catherine (Charlie) Duhamel, Anne (Donald) Ellsworth; brothers, Wishie (Linda) McIsaac and John (Pauline) McIsaac and many nieces, nephews and their families. Beside her parents, Donna was predeceased by her sister, Mary McIsaac; her brother, Joe McIsaac; three siblings in infancy and her nephew, Noel McIsaac.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Donna will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 4 p.m. with Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199. Reception to follow.
Donna until we meet again, your gentle spirit lives on with each of those who knew you; it’s your everlasting gift to us all. We were blessed to have you in our lives, we are all better for it, you will always be missed.
