Margaret "Peggy" Marsh

Margaret "Peggy" Marsh

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret "Peggy" Marsh, surrounded by family, of a wonderful sister, aunt, great-aunt & friend. Peggy was at peace with her life, one spent loving and giving beyond measure. The depth of her love for those she held dear was immense and she seized every opportunity to show & tell them. Peggy was the sister, aunt, & friend who acknowledged every milestone & accomplishment of those she held dear. Peggy was born in England where she became a nurse & midwife. She emigrated to Garnish with her sister in 1971 to her father’s home. Peggy worked in Grand Bank Cottage Hospital for 13 years where she was highly respected. She delivered over 70 babies, that was the joy of her career. Peggy then moved to St. John’s and received her RN and worked at Hoyles Escasoni until her retirement. Peggy resided in Topsail with her sister Hazel & family for 34 years, naturally becoming Ryan & Brad’s second Mom. She was always there to fix their bumps & bruises, of course she did it better than Mom. Peggy was an avid reader, loved, and always won scrabble. She enjoyed her friendly game of poker with her friends but most of all made many works of art with her wonderful cross-stitch. Peggy is predeceased by her parents: Norman & Nancy; brother: Bill (Barbara). Leaving to mourn her sister: Hazel (Blaine) of Topsail; brother: Norman (Gradie) of Mississippi; her 8 nieces & nephews; 12 great-nieces & nephews; 2 special long-time friends: Liz Blagdon of PEI and Yvonne O’Neill of St. John’s. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitations on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 & Wednesday, May 9 from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Thursday, May 10 at 10:30am. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
