It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Delores ‘Dorie’ Nicholson, age 80, on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex, Glace Bay with her family by her side. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Carey) Nicholson.
Dorie enjoyed baking and reading and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed living at the seniors complex, with her many great friends, who were always around for a visit.
Delores is survived by her loving children, Darlene (Clarie) Nicholson-O'Neill, Darrell (Debbie) Nicholson, Cindy (Chris) Watts, Jack Nicholson; her precious grandchildren, Kevin and Jason Nicholson, Jamie Boyd, Jeremy and Joel Soehner, Jesse and Jacklyn Nicholson and Andrew Beaton; her three wonderful great grandchildren, Kevin and Travis Boyd and Breton Nicholson; sister, Betty Devison, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack Nicholson; daughter, Cathy Nicholson, and daughter-in-law, Shirley Nicholson.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday May 15, 2018 with Deacon Lorne MacNeil at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS, 902-849-4199. Burial will take place at a later date.
