Card of Thanks
David Gardiner

Our hearts are full of gratitude as we say sincere thanks to family members, friends, neighbours and coworkers for the many acts of kindness shown to us during our time of grief. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to those who brought food and other essential items; to those who made memorial donations, to those who sent cards and other messages of sympathy both by phone and online, to those who took the time to visit our home and the funeral home and to those who shared with us the celebration of life of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
To Rev. Duncan Roach, there are no words to say how we feel. Your friendship and spiritual food provided to Dave and our family before, during and after our time of great need shall always be tucked away in our hearts. The funeral service for Dave was one which, if he could tell you, was a “job well done”.
To Dave’s choir family, thank you for the beautiful selections. He was right there singing with you the hymns he loved. And a special note of thanks to Christopher Edwards, organist and choir director, it meant so much to us to have you there.
To the CWL, a sincere thanks for the beautiful food and service at the reception after the funeral.
To Clara Kearney, thank you for being there to run “errands” for us. Your love and friendship mean so much.
Sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home New Waterford for their professionalism and care. Thank you for your understanding of what family grief is all about.
Special thanks to Ken Biggers (Dave’s coffee buddy) and to Raymond Gardiner (nephew) for the lovely readings.
To Kevin Kearney, thank you for your years of friendship and love and for the beautiful solos you sang during Dave’s funeral. Your music, which he always enjoyed, helped to make his final farewell very special.
From Dave’s “girls”, a special thank you to his pallbearers: his namesake and son, David; his son-in-laws John Michael, Kelly and Craig; his longtime friends Kevin Kearney and Roddie Mitchell; and to his honorary pallbearers, “coal” buddies and friends, Ray Porquet and Brother Matthys. Dave handpicked you all to carry him to his final resting place.
If we have missed anyone, we are truly sorry. All of your love and prayers helped to see us through this most difficult time.
“Life is made of moments and I have shared the best of mine with you.”

Forever in our hearts: Wife Shirley, Daughters Jennifer, Stephanie, Danielle,
Son David, and their families.
