Lorne Carter Embree

Lorne Carter Embree, age 103, formerly of Fort Lawrence, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the High-Crest Nursing Home in Springhill, Nova Scotia.
Born January 16, 1915, in Warren, Nova Scotia, Lorne was a son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Carter) Embree.
A proud veteran of the Second World War, Lorne served in France, Holland, and Germany.
On his return, he worked on his family farm in Warren until he acquired his own farm in Fort Lawrence, which he operated for many years.
Lorne was a member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rena Estella Corey in 2012, sister Mabel Chapman, his brothers, Raymond and Douglas, and one niece, Linda Chappell.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two nephews, Ronald (Darlene) Chapman and Douglas (Grace) Chapman, extended family and friends.
A time of visitation for Lorne will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 1 pm to 2 pm. The funeral service and a tribute service by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Amherst, will be held at 2 pm. The funeral service will be officiated by Dr. Rev. Dan Green. All in Campbell’s Funeral Home Chapel, 98 Church St., Amherst, (902) 667-9906. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Lorne will be laid to rest beside his wife, in the Warren Cemetery.
In lieu of floral tributes, a memorial contribution in Lorne’s memory can be made to the Warren Cemetery, First Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
