Connie MacKinnon

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Connie MacKinnon on May 23, 2018 at the age of 59. Connie passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was a generous and caring soul who loved deeply and unconditionally.
Born on May 22, 1959, she was the daughter of Ernie Mrazek and the late Eleanor Mrazek.
Connie will be deeply missed by her husband Bill, daughter Sarah, son Paul, daughter-in-law Allie; father Ernie, her dedicated aunt and uncle Sheila and Donnie Gouthro; her siblings Barb, Nancy, Robbie and Ernie Mrazek and sister-in-law Kate Mrazek; her cousins Paula Green (Will, Thomas, Sully and Charlie) and Matthew Gouthro (Beth and Cole); her niece Kirsti Mrazek and nephew Tyler Mrazek; her mother-in-law Dorothy MacKinnon; and all of her wonderful friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Connie grew up in Newfoundland and New Brunswick before attending St Francis Xavier University, where she met Bill in 1977. Connie and Bill were married in 1980 and lived and raised their two children in Calgary before retiring to Sackville, New Brunswick in 2014, shortly after Connie’s diagnosis of ALS. Connie endured her misfortune with smiles, laughter and love, never allowing the disease to steal her joy. Her life was an example to all of us who are left behind; she truly showed us how to live a life of love.
A special thank-you goes out to Denise and Kyleigh for the wonderful care and friendship they provided in looking after Connie, as well as to Dr. Andrea Wall and Dr. Coleen O’Connell, and to Rebecca, Melony, Cynthia, Carol, Laurie and the other Extra Mural team members for their dedication.
Donations in memory of Connie may be sent to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia or the Stan Cassidy Centre Foundation in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
A funeral service to honour Connie’s life and to say our final goodbyes was held at Jones Funeral Home at 70 Bridge Street (506-364-1300) in Sackville
