Passed peacefully away May 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the Palliative Care Unit of the L.A. Miller Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by parents Reginald and Martha (Hammond) Rees; sisters Norma, Irene and Yvonne; daughter-in-law Catherine Rees (Paul). Left with many loving memories are his wife of 52 years, Gertrude (Cox); son David (Doreen); daughter Beverly (Stephen), Donald (Nancy), Chris (Tammy), Rodney (Kim); grandchildren Kayla and Gillian, Cameron and Brooklyn and Seamus David and Sophie; numerous cherished family and friends; special niece Deanna Houston and lifelong friend Kelvin Somerton. Special thanks to Dr Al-Asaaed and the caring and compassionate staff of the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, and the wonderful, caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the L.A. Miller Centre. We will be forever grateful. Cremation has already taken place. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Monday, June 4th, 2018 at 2 p.m. from the St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove. Interment to follow at Anglican Church Cemetery, Bauline Line Ext.
