Yvonne (Latwaitis) Gardiner

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Yvonne Gardiner, age 76, announce her passing on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Born in Sydney Mines on August 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Scullen) Latwaitis.
Yvonne was a resident of the Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck. She always looked forward to her regular weekly visits from her brother Anthony (Tony), where they would chat and joke with the staff.
Yvonne was very proud to have been a teacher with the Cape Breton Victoria School Board and taught for many years in Sydney Mines. She and Albert loved to travel, especially to St. Pierre et Miquelon to celebrate their anniversary. She was an avid gardener and cook. Nothing made Yvonne happier than making her famous cabbage rolls and sharing them with her family.
Yvonne is survived by sisters, Helen, Massachusetts, Camilla (Billie), California, and Vivian, Ontario.
Besides her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert in 1993; nine brothers, and nine sisters.
At Yvonne’s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place, and a family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the Alderwood Rest Home.
