Helen Marie Mingo

Mingo, Helen Marie, Truro, 92. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 15, 2018 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born on June 20, 1925 in North Sydney, she was the daughter of Selena (Anderson) Reid and Norman Strickland. When her mother died in 1931, after a short stay in the Protestant Orphan’s Home in Bible Hill, she was adopted by John and Isabella Stevens of Truro. She is survived by daughters, Dorothy (Warren) Tay, Truro, JoAnn Stone, White Rock, BC, Ellen (Clarence) Moore, Truro, Jamie (Gary) Moore, Holtville, NB, Susan (Daniel) MacDougall, Debert, Margaret (Peggy) MacKenzie, Truro; daughter-in-law, Heather; sons, E. Lee Mingo and W. Peter both of Truro. She was also the beloved grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Annie, Mary, Helen, Phyllis, Joanie; brothers-in-law, Ron and Stephen; special niece, Isobel; a special former daughter-in-law, Marjorie and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Edward in 1996; son, Allen in 2004 and grandson, Mark in 2014. Also predeceased by brother, Joseph Reid; sisters, Rita (Larry) McInnes, Lena (Bill) Whalen, Charlotte (Ted) Genters and Elsie (Hugh) Wasson. A special thank you to Dr. Munroe and the staff of Sanford Hall, Munroe Court. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18th from 6pm to 7pm and a service will be held on Tuesday, June 19th at 2pm with Rev. Lori Ramsay officiating, both at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St.,Truro. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
