Collins, Earle M., Age 86, of Halifax passed away peacefully surrounded by his family June 16th, 2018 - his birthday - after a brief illness at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Nicholsville, he was the son of the late Hilda (Gates) and Clarence Collins. He was pre-deceased by his sister Colleen in 1936. Earle was the devoted husband to Elsie (Myers), loving father to Eric, Brian, Darrell, Sharon, Gail and Kevin (Heather), and proud grandfather to Ella and Lilly. Earle moved to Halifax in the early 1950's, married Elsie in 1958 in her home community of Boylston, N.S., raised a family, made countless friends, and touched many lives. Their home on Poplar St. is a place where countless people have been welcomed over the years. Earle worked for Air Canada for 33 years, however found an opportunity in the late 1970's that combined his strong business and organizational skills with his love of being around people, and he became "The Calendar Man" - selling advertising products for Gamester Advertising (now Talbot Marketing). This was not only his business, it was his hobby and his passion - a business from which he proudly never retired. Earle was also active in his church. He served on numerous boards at West End United Baptist Church throughout the years, routinely making lasting friendships along the way. He was also active in politics - proudly supporting the Liberal party, working in elections for over 60 years, and as always making life-long friends throughout this journey. Visitation will be Thursday, June 21st from 2-4, and 6-8 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. Funeral service will be held at West End Baptist Church, 1986 Preston Street, Halifax at 11am on Friday, June 22nd, with a reception to follow. A private graveside service will take place in Aylesford Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith to Live By (P.O. Box 426, Winnipeg MB, R3C 2H6), Soul's Harbour Rescue Mission (5568 Cunard St, Halifax NS, B3K 4B4), or a charity of choice.
