Gertrude Eleanor Boran

Gertrude Eleanor Boran, 92, of Springhill, passed away on Thursday June 14, 2018 at High Crest Nursing Home. Born in Readville, Mass, she was a daughter of the Late Thomas and Florence (Emberly) Nicholson.
Moving to Springhill at age two she was educated in Springhill Schools; she worked fourteen years for Maritime Tel & Tel, one year at the Nova Scotia Hospital and finished her working career with the Town of Springhill for fourteen years. She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church; she enjoyed skating, cycling, walking and dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and the young friends she made at Moms and Tots while helping them to learn to skate; she was on the Board of Directors for GOVRC since 1991 and a member of the Cobequid Chapter IODE.
She was an avid dog lover and they all knew she carried a dog biscuit with her at all times. She loved spending her summers on Pugwash Point and being with her cherished family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by son, Tom (Deb) Boran of Pugwash Point; daughter, Ruth (Bill) Spence of Port Howe; grandchildren, Billy, Michael and Jamie Spence; Andrew, Nicholas and Patrick Boran; great grandchildren, Kyle, Abigail, Levi, Elle, Hudson, Graydon, Katie, Sara, Quinn, Ashley and Cody; brother, Harold Nicholson, Springhill and Billy (Theda) Nicholson of Courtice, ON, and a sister, Jean MacDonald of Bramalea, ON;
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Carlyle "Bud" Boran in 2017.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, (902 597 2361) from where visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the High Crest Nursing Home and the VON for their continued exceptional care and compassion.
Donations in memory of Gertrude may be made to the GOVRC, the Springhill Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
