Maureen Carroll

Born: July 16th, 1957

Passed on: June 23rd, 2018

It is with broken hearts and unimaginable sadness that we share the news of Maureens’ untimely passing on June 23, 2018. A bright light has been dimmed but will never be extinguished.
Maureen was born on July 16, 1957 to Doug and Catherine MacLeod.
She lived her life doing what she did best…helping others and sharing her light. Maureen impacted everyone she met and her loss will be felt deeply by all who knew her. She was the epitome of humble and kind. Throughout her illness, Maureen showed amazing strength and determination to reach the goals she set.
Maureens’ greatest joy in life was her daughter Meghan…her Sunshine…her legacy. They shared a bond that time, distance and even death can never break. Everything Maureen did was with Meghan on her mind and in her heart.
She worked tirelessly in whatever she did and always with the best interests of her work family at heart. Those who worked with Maureen will feel her loss greatly. Those she mentored and worked closely with will forever be grateful for her wisdom and guidance. Maureen had little feet but leaves big shoes to fill.
Maureen leaves behind her husband, Ray (to whom she was so grateful for the care he provided during her last months); her precious daughter, Meghan (her Sunshine and reason for everything she did); Meghan’s husband, Ben; her mom, Catherine; her sisters, Sharon, Cathy, Irene, LeeAnne (Simon) and brother, Doug (Pam). She also leaves behind her extended Australian family, several special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as many very special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved father, Douglas ‘Cook’ and brother, Douglas in infancy.
We have so many precious memories of Maureen to keep her close in our hearts. Although she was very ill for the past few months, Maureen was very happy to have us all gathered around to spend special time with her. We all shared a wonderful family bond with Maureen and, although her chair will be vacant, her spirit will remain with us forever.
Visitation for Maureen will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday, June 27th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a service in the chapel at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maureen Carroll Memorial Leadership Award at Cape Breton University would be appreciated and well received.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
