Lillian Marjorie MacAskill

Passed on: July 28th, 2018

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother, sister, grannie, friend and source of love and strength, Lillian Marjorie MacAskill, 83. Lillian passed away at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital on June 28, 2018. She was the daughter, of the late Catherine (MacAskill) and William Burt.
Lillian is survived by her loving husband, Kennie. Their love served as an example to us all for over 60 years. She is also survived by her children, Debbie (David), Stevie (Leighanne), Michele (Tracy), Kerr (Beth) and Archie (Alicia). She was a loving Grannie to her grandchildren, Ryan (Tina), Michael (Holly), Mitchell, Bella, Willie, Kennedy and Jack; great-grandchildren, Jesslyn, Maya, Rogan, Asher and Norah, and Cameron and Owen, who held a special place in her heart; her brother, Billy (Debbie) Burt; sister, Shirley (John) Gaskell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her son, Shaun.
Lillian was a Grand Representative of the Order of Eastern Star Celtic Star, #19 Blues Mills; the United Church Women, an Elder of The St. Ann’s Bay United Church and former Sunday School Teacher. Lillian was also a proud recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. A true “Florence Nightingale”, countless hours were spent caring for those who needed her, be it hospital visits, a drive to an appointment or place to lay your head. Her home was always open, and her guests never left without one of her famous oatcakes, rolls or biscuits and a cup of tea. An avid community volunteer, there was never a hesitation to lend a hand. If ever there was a question as to who was in attendance at a particular event, a quick reference to Grannie’s many journals was in order.
Thank you to the Alderwood Rest Home and the Victoria County Memorial Hospital doctors and staff for your care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, with burial at a later date. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Englishtown Community Hall. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 2 p.m., with Diane Kempt DLM officiating, reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The St. Ann’s Bay United Church or your charity of choice.
“You earned your wings.”
