Special thanks for all the kind care the family has received, with special mention to ‘Our Lunch Girls’, Pearl Huntington, Ellen Gregor, Charlotte MacCormick, Mary Coffey, Michelle Craig, Marilyn Faulkner and Jessie Mae Matheson. Mom also wanted Jessie Mae to know that she will miss their Thursday nights.
Our mom was able to pass away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, a blessing that was only made possible by the kind and exceptional care of the VON and the nurses and doctors that work in palliative care. Also, a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the cancer centers in Sydney and Halifax.
Mom was dedicated to her community. She volunteered over the years with the local school, Girl Guide Camp Jamboree, Mira Gala Community Council, Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department, Honey Mann Friend Choir, Mira Gaelic Choir, Mira Players, and was an elder in her church, Bethel United.
The family will receive visitors and friends on Thursday, July 26 from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. at Bethel United Church, 2589 Hillside Road, Marion Bridge. A funeral service, officiated by Nancy Whitney-Latham, DLM, will be held at Bethel United Church in Marion Bridge on Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Bethel United Church Community Hall.
