Lominda Anne (Bowden) Clyke

It is with great pain and sorrow that we, the children, grieve the passing of our dear mother, Lominda Anne (Bowden) Clyke, Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Born in Sunnyville, Guysborough, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Brody) Bowden.
After moving to Sydney, she worked in private home care, General Instruments, Salvation Army Housing, Elder Care Services, Cape Breton Regional School Board and later, at the Holiday Inn until she retired. She was one of the founding directors of the Black United Front and loved singing with the Memory Lane Singers, Vonnie MacEachern singers and playing darts. She was also a member of the Trinity United Church and choir.
She is survived by daughters, Helen (Paul), Kentville, Betty (Julian) and Elaine (Dave), Sydney, Margaret, Toronto, Lillian, Montreal, Anna and Debbie (Rocky), Halifax; sons, Douglas, Sydney, Gerald, Toronto, Peter (Marianne), Halifax; sisters, Marie, Toronto, Elizabeth, Sydney, Christina, Guysborough, Evelyn, Halifax; brother, Roy, Guysborough. She had 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son, Paul; daughter, Diane; brother, Clarence, and sister, Sarah Jane.
A special mention to her close and dearest lifelong friend, Quenta Clyke and the staff at Oakwood Terrace for their continued support and dedication.
Funeral services are under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Memorial service will be held at United Heritage Church on Monday July 30 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens on Grand Lake Road.
