Wilfred "Bud" MacQueen

Wilfred "Bud" MacQueen

Passed on: August 12th, 2018

Wilfred “Bud” MacQueen of Sydney (formerly South Bar), son of the late Sam MacQueen and Kathleen (Richardson) MacQueen, passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of August 12, 2018, surrounded by his family inside the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
In early life, Bud spent a great deal of time around his large family at their mother’s home on Townsend St. A happy moment for Bud was talking about how he loved helping his father (Sam MacQueen) run the old Irving Station on the Esplanade of downtown Sydney. From there he would spend time working in Toronto, O.N., before coming home to Sydney where he would eventually meet the love of his life, Ann Marie (Snow) MacQueen and begin working at the Steel Plant.
He will always be remembered for his love of his family, hard work ethic, love of horse racing, sports, his dog (Roxy), cat (Sugar) and spending his summer months in the blueberry patches.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie (Snow) MacQueen; son, David MacQueen; daughter, Elaine (Ted McKinnon); grandson, Patrick; brothers, Joseph (Marleen) and William (Ann); sisters, Kathleen (deceased, Ray Campbell), Margaret (deceased, John Mclaine), Rose (deceased, Albert Hillier) and Donna. Along with his many nephews and nieces, who he loved dearly.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Archibald, the incredible doctors and nurse of the Palliative care unit. With Bud's request, his body has been donated to the Dalhousie laboratory after which his remains will be cremated and a service will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made out in his honor to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
