With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mom, Isabel Rose Murphy, age 94 of Sydney, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Catherine MacEachern. She was an active member of the Our Lady of Fatima CWL, where she loved being of service and was also active with SACL, Horizons Achievement Center, as well as participated with her husband John doing Meals On Wheels and a member of the Lady of Fatima bowling leaque. She was quite a knitter and loved to walk everywhere. Isabel enjoyed ceramics, was Queen of making cinnamon rolls and tea biscuits. She could always be found at the 9 a.m. Mass. Isabel was blessed to have a strong relationship with her grandchildren Sean and Jody and was overjoyed to be Grammie to Baby Jack, her great-grandson. She is survived by daughters, Andrea Catherine Murphy, Sydney; Rose Anne (Bill) Murphy, Ottawa; son, John (Debbie) Murphy, Sydney; grandchildren, Jody (Jeff) Columbus, Sydney; Sean Murphy, Calgary; great grandson, Jack Columbus, Sydney; brothers, Stuart MacEachern, Nebraska and Alec MacEachern, Sydney Mines.
Isabel was predeceased by her husband, John Patrick Murphy; daughter, Marie Murphy; sisters, Marion Campbell, Catherine MacEachern, Anne MacEachern, Gert Lavesque and brothers, George and Hugh MacEachern. Visitation for Mrs. Murphy will be on Friday, August 17 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Horizon Achievement Building Fund.
