The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor Summerside on Monday September 3, 2018 of W. Vernon Simpson of Summerside aged 84 years. Husband of R. Joan (MacRae) Simpson. Born in Bayview, December 14, 1933 son of the late Cecil and Leona (MacLure) Simpson. Vernon retired from the Bank of Nova Scotia after many years of service and was a life member of the Summerside Lion’s Club and Prince Edward Masonic Lodge # 14. Cherished father of Wade (Gail) Simpson, Bathurst, NB; Lori (Robert) Coulson, Kensington and Mark Simpson, Miscouche. Loving grandfather to Tyler Simpson, Pittsburg, Alyssa (Steve) Hartwell, Saint-Lazare Que., Troy Simpson, Moose Jaw, Sask., Drew Coulson, Toronto and Teila Coulson, Ottawa. Great-grandfather to Parker, Aiden and Finn Hartwell. Brother of Lois Crossman, Niagara Falls, On, Merrill (Hilda) Simpson, Winsloe, Norman (Linda) Simpson, Schurman’s Point, and Maynard (Audrey) Simpson, Summerside. Brother-in-law of Isabelle Picketts, Margate and Janet Murphy, Sea View. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Ruth Zeeben and Miriam Simpson, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alden Crossman, Parker (Yvonne) MacRae, Mary (Bud) Brander, Alma Gridley, Harold MacRae, Ruth Paynter, John Picketts, Evelyn (Clifford) Picketts, Brad (Barb) MacRae and Carl Murphy. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Thursday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Funeral Friday at Trinity United Church Summerside at 10:30 a.m. Interment in People’s Cemetery Summerside. If so desired contributions may be made to The Prince County Hospital Foundation, The Alzheimer Society or Prince Edward Lodge # 14. Members of the Summerside Lions Club will hold a service at the funeral home Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. Brethren of Prince Edward Lodge # 14 will hold a Masonic Memorial Service at the funeral home Thursday evening at 9 p.m. www.davisonfh.com
