It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of E. Robert Hamlyn, age 96 years, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Helen Hamlyn (nee Pike), son Paul, sister Betty Drodge and brother-in-law Frank (Clara) Pike. Leaving to mourn his sister June (Ken – deceased) King, sons David (Patricia) and Robert, as well as his grandchildren Andrea (Matthew) Chatters, Jennifer (Wade) Abbott, Kristine, Stephen (Megan), Raymond (Kayla) and Kelly (Kim), and great-grandchildren Calder, Addison, Merisa, Connor, Grant, Max and Ben. Also left to mourn brothers-in-law Richard (Betty) Pike, Robert (Olivia) Pike and Stewart Pike, sisters-in-law Ruth (Gerry) Butler and Lorna Clouter, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s with visitation on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place at Gower Street United Church, St. John’s, Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation (in honour of his wife, Helen) or the Gower Street United Church restoration fund.
