With heavy hearts, we, the family, announce the passing of Elaine Rose Googoo,40, on September 18, 2018.
Born in Baddeck, Elaine was the daughter of Charlie Googoo and Alexandria Bernard, of Wagmatcook. Upon graduating high school, Elaine went to Cape Breton University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts then she went on to Holland College in PEI where she worked hard and graduated with her Dental Assisting Degree. Elaine came back to Wagmatcook where she worked at the Wagmatcook Centre for a number of years before moving to another job where she was very passionate about, Educational Assistant at the Wagmatcookewey School. Elaine loved crafting. She was known for her beaded dream catcher earrings. She loved beaches, particularly Inverness Beach. She would often pack up and spend the day at the beach with her family and friends. Elaine was able to connect to friends on a deep level, forming bonds as strong as family. Elaine's contagious smile was ever present and felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her generosity, positivity and kindred free spirit will forever be in our hearts. Her friends and family will always remember her willingness to help anyone in need. Elaine will be sadly missed by her children, twin boys Robert Jij & Logan and her beautiful daughter Monica Rose. She is also survived by Robert Simon, father of her children, and her sisters, Loretta, Monica (Andrew), Eunice (Raymond), Julia Paul (Neal) and Alexis, all of Wagmatcook; brothers, Daniel, Charles Jr (Amanda) and Michael Lafford (Charlene) of Wagmatcook and Cory (Brandy) of New Brunswick. Elaine will also be missed by Sunshine, Starr and Skye whom she also called her daughters, her closest friends and sisters Carrie Moss and Brenda Smith, her Mom2 and Papa; Lucy and Felix Smith, and her best friends Lynn Googoo, Christina Pierro, Kim Bégin, mommy-2 to her children, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She loved vacationing to PEI with her children where she would often visit her best friend and family, Eliza and Jade Knockwood; godmother, Jean Doris Googoo. Elaine was a very proud godmother to Tyrrell, Emma, Elianna, Nikkiah, Adalynn and Ariel. Elaine was predeceased by her brother in infancy, Grant Lee Googoo, maternal grandparents, Mary Susan & Frank Bernard, paternal grandparents, Peter & Helen Googoo, aunt Sylvia Googoo, uncles Houlton Bernard and Lawrence Bernard, godfather Charlie Peter Googoo, and cousin Dwayne Daniel Peck.

Visitation for Elaine will begin after 4 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 46 Humes Rear Road, Wagmatcook. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Saturday, September 29 at 10 a.m. with Fr Vargheese officiating. Cremation will take place at a later date.
