Born: February 9th, 1925

Passed on: September 23rd, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Catherine Cecilia Donovan on September 23, 2018. Mom was formerly of Prince Street and Dalhousie Drive, Sydney and she also lived in Labrador City for 11 years.
Born February 9, 1925 in Sydney, Catherine “Caddy” was the loving daughter of the late Roderick and Elizabeth (MacNeil) MacKinnon of MacKinnon’s Harbour.
Caddy was predeceased by her husband, Gregory; her twin sister, Jean (George) MacKinnon; sisters, Kay (Dave) MacKinnon, Mabel (Albert) Martin, Florence (Angus MacKenzie) (Roddie) Norton, Jessie (Cecil) Donovan and brother, Murdock (Wanda) MacKinnon.
Caddy will be sadly missed by her loving family, daughters, Jean and Pearl; sons, Earl (Luqui) and John (Brenda) and grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Alisa, Joanna, Allison and Aidan and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was the sweetest, kindest mother and grandmother and we will miss her terribly. She enjoyed working at MacLeod’s Bookstore for many years and was also the owner/operator of Cathy’s Dairy at the entrance to the Sydney Sports Centre. Mom spent many summers with the family at the bungalow in Ingonish Beach. Mom and her sister, Jessie, married the Donovan brothers and both families were very close with homes and cottages in close proximity.
Visitation for Caddy Donovan will be held on Thursday, September 27 from 2-4 &7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Special thanks to the staff on Miner’s Lane, Kenwood Hall, for their kindness and compassion for our mother.
