Errol O'Neil

Errol Joseph O’Neil, age 76, of New Glasgow, NS passed away October 17th, 2018 at home after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born June 17th, 1942 in Mulgrave, NS to the late Anela (MacKinnon) & Frank O’Neil.

Errol spent 23 years of his professional career working in finance. He had a knack for numbers and often helped friends and family with their financial planning. In his earlier years, Errol was involved in the Knights of Columbus (KOC) and the Lions Club. He served as State Deputy for Nova Scotia from 2009-2011 and enjoyed travelling with his wife Audrey across North America while in this role. He completed his Third and Fourth Degree and was Past State Deputy, Past Faithful Navigator for the Fourth Degree and a life member.

He continued on as an active member of the KOC Council 1667 and as Chairman of the Holy Name Pastoral Council until his death. Errol loved fishing, golf and being outdoors in the sun chatting with friends and laughing with a “twinkle in his eye.” He loved family gatherings with his siblings and their families. The joy of his life was spending time with his two grandchildren.
Errol was a well-respected man in his community and fostered many lasting relationships over the course of his life. Errol was a man of character who could be counted on with a great work ethic. Friends and family know him as a man who helps through action by getting things done.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Audrey (O’Brien); daughters Shauna Graham (Gary), Amherst; Lynn Hanifen (Shawn), Halifax; Andrea O’Neil (Jon Sebesta), Halifax; grandsons William and Tristan; siblings David (Laurella), Gerrard (Mary Jane), Joanne (Johnny), Mary (Ken) and sisters-in-laws Judy, Laurine & Vivian and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by siblings Mannie, Marlene, John and Carroll.

His family will receive visitors on Sunday, October 21st from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Holy Name C.W.L. will recite prayers at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home, the K.O.C. will conduct a service 6:30 Sunday at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Monday, October 22nd from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Charles Cameron officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations be made to K.O.C. Charitable Foundation or the Holy Name Cemetery. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
