Benjamin "Ben" Church

Passed on: October 16th, 2018

Church, Benjamin “Ben” Garth, 42, Brooklyn, Hants County. With deep sadness we announce the passing of our cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Ben passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 after a fierce battle against AML. He won over the hearts of many with his infectious smile and caring heart. Even in his final days he continued to put others first. “Kitty” or “Kit” was happiest when he was with his boys, in a hay field, or puttering on the family farm. In his younger years, Ben was known for being the life of the party and will be greatly missed by so many close friends. For the past 19 years Ben was a dedicated employee of Kynock Resources Ltd. Surviving are his wife, Ashleigh (Plume); sons, Colton, Maddox and his fur baby Dozer; parents Dell and Cheryl (Blackburn) Church; sisters Lori, Kelly (Ryan Brown); and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by maternal grandparents Leonard and Virginia Blackburn; and paternal grandparents George and Minnie Church. The family would like to thank all of the many nurses and doctors who gave such phenomenal care over these past few months. Special thanks go to the nurses in the Hants Community Hospital Emergency Department and Ambulatory Care, Dr. Amanda MacDonald and Dr. Bezanson, all of the nurses and support staff from 8A, Dr. Abid and Dr. Couban, and the doctors and nurses from 3A ICU. An extra special thank you to Jenn (3A ICU) for her special care during Ben’s final days. Visitation was 6-8 pm Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. A service to honour Ben’s life was held 2 pm Monday, October 22, 2018 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Celebrant David Maginley officiated. A reception followed in Lindsay’s Funeral Home. A private family burial was held in the Newport Landing Cemetery, Avondale Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. To have a donation card placed, please call Lindsay’s (902-798-2232).
