Elizabeth “Betty” McAulay

Elizabeth “Betty” McAulay

Surrounded by her family, on Thursday, October 18, 2018, Elizabeth “Betty” McAulay (nee McCormack) lovingly known as “The Bride” was re-united in heaven with Loman, her husband of 39 years and son Donald. Born in 1925, Betty was the loving Mother to Heather (Dan Killbride), Sharon (Peter Greenan), Sandra (Terry Ross), Colin (Michelle), the late Donald McAulay (Cheryl) and sister-in-law Marie McAulay. Predeceased by her parents Francis and Pearl McCormack; sister-in laws Alma Sheehan, Carol Anne and Jessie; brother-in-laws Milford, Father Clark, Frank and Elliott. Betty’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially those rare gatherings that would include an ever growing number of cherished grandkids and great-grandkids. Betty also loved the beach and has instilled this love of the sand and salt air to all of her children. She and Loman spent their summers in Stanhope where they built a cottage. Sing songs on the beach, camp fires and games of croquet were shared by all, the young and the young at heart. On special occasions, Loman and Betty could be seen gliding through the calm waters of Covehead Bay on Loman’s prized sailboat “The Dingbat”, Captain at the helm and The Bride providing a watchful eye on the horizon and supplying a fresh supply of piping hot black coffee from the thermos. Betty would often say “you’ll sleep well tonight after all of that fresh Stanhope air”. Betty devoted her life to her family, her beloved cats and in later years, two beautiful well-loved and well fed Sheltie’s that provided great companionship. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home until Monday at 9:45 a.m. then to St. Pius X Church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visitation Sunday 2-5 p.m. Special thanks and gratitude to all health care providers and to the professional and compassionate nursing staff and doctors at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to the PEI Humane Society. www.belvederefh.com
