It is with deep regret that we, the children of Eileen Dwyer announce she passed peacefully on Monday, October 22nd at Harbourstone. Born in Sydney, Eileen was the daughter of the late Greg and Jane (Benmore) O'Flaherty.
Eileen was predeceased by her adoring husband, Phillip. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Anne (Alex) Kulczycki, Violet (Jim) Townsend, Ethel (George) Townsend, Betty (George) Harvey, Gladys (Melvin) Morrison and her brothers, Greg (Jenny) O'Flaherty and Danny.
They built their house together and raised their family on Lorne St in Sydney. After graduation she was employed at Bongard and Leslie Stock Exchange and later became a public servant, starting her career at Louisburg and retiring from Citizenship Canada. Eileen enjoyed traveling with Philip and spending time with her family. Summers were often spent in Margaree roasting marshmallows and singing around the campfire. Eileen loved music and was blessed with a beautiful voice. After retirement, many winters were spent in Florida. Eileen could often be found lovingly playing games with her grandchildren, whom she always had time for.
Left with fond and treasured memories are her sons, Blair (Mary Ellen Ross) of Victoria, and John of Moncton; daughters, Shirley MacNeil (Andy) of Sydney, Eileen Dwyer-Crane (Art) of Enfield, Anne Marie Dwyer (Rod MacDonald) of Lower Sackville, Margie Maher (Raymond) of Islandview. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Mark MacNeil (Cheryl), Morgan Crane (Donovan Kennedy), Daniel Crane, Krystal Maher, Patrick Dwyer, Shayne Mills, Liam Crane, Leah Maher, Abbie Crane, Brendan Dwyer and three great-grandchildren, (Avery, Lachlan and Reese MacNeil).
