Lillias (Goobie) Laite

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: October 28th, 2018

The children of Lillias Laite nee Goobie would like to announce her sudden passing on October 28, 2018, at the ICU, CBRH, Sydney, NS after a brief illness.
Mom leaves to mourn her four children, Juanita (Richard McKenzie), Terry (Helen), Cheryl and Elizabeth (Steve McRae). She also leaves 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Clench, Marjorie Richards, Audrey (Wilson Stoyles), Mary Sheppard and sister-in-law, Barbara Russell.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Goobie; her loving husband, John; son, Barry; granddaughter, Tonya Kelly; sister, Elsie Chaytor and brother, Don Goobie. In Mom's early years she was a teacher in NL. She met our Dad and moved to Nova Scotia where she raised her five children. After all us children were raised and on our own Mom became a home care worker for the elderly where she gave her unconditional love and support in their final years. Our Mom loved horror movies and books. She was a sports fanatic and we knew not to call her if curling, or baseball was on TV (especially the Boston Red Socks). Her biggest love in this world was her family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Horizon Achievement Centre Building Fund.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Nov 2, 2018 at the S. W. Chant and Son Funeral Home 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
A reception will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Common Room, 1249 George St., Sydney. (Rock Elm Seniors Complex).
Messages and memorials may be made to the family at www.chantfuneralhome.ca.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Chant’s Funeral Home.
