The family of Samuel Charles “Chuck” Facey is saddened to announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, 21 November, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Chuck was born in New Glasgow on 12 April, 1943 to Clyde and Audrey (Brown) Facey.

He grew up in Stellarton. Chuck left school as a young teen and attended Vocational School but returned at age 20 to go on to graduate from Stellarton High School, St. Francis Xavier University, and Dalhousie Law School. After completing his articles in Port Hawkesbury, he joined Nova Scotia Legal Aid and worked out of the Port Hawkesbury, Antigonish, and New Glasgow offices. In 1979, he opened his own practice in Westville. Chuck was appointed to the Queen’s Council and was member of Pictou County Bar and the Provincial Bar Associations. He was a former member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. Chuck was a life-long learner, a voracious reader, poet, history and political junkie. He loved the law, its practice and was tenacious in his efforts for his clients. He supported his community and its organizations and was a former President of the Westville Business Association. He was known for his quick wit, exceptional memory, love of antique cars and country music.

Chuck will be dearly missed by his wife Heather (Taylor) Facey; chosen son, Clifford Jardine, Hopewell and his family; nieces, nephews and cousins

He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings; sisters, Nancy Doucet Jones and Linda Facey and his three brothers, Colin, Sandy and Barry.

Chuck’s family would like to thank Dr. Marion MacDonald for her care and friendship over the years and ICU nurse Kelsey for her compassion and care.

Visitations will take place at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville on Saturday, November 24 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.

A private family burial service will take place at a later date. Donations in Chuck’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the I.W.K. or The Shepherd’s Lunch Room, c/o Phil Spurr, 477 Nelson Street, New Glasgow, B2H 3C6.
