Rudolph Roderick “Jake” Tomko, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
Born September 25, 1924, in Sydney, Jake was the son of the late Rose and Bill Tomko. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
At the age of 16, Jake joined the Merchant Marines in Sydney during the Second World War. He always had a love of the ocean and spent most of his life living by the ocean with his wife, Theresa.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Theresa, to whom he was married for 65 years.
The last part of his life, Jake resided at the Cove Guest Home. He had a real love for the way he was treated by all the staff, especially Angie.
Jake is survived by many nieces and nephews throughout the country. His nephew, David would especially like to thank the Cove for the great care his uncle received. Also, a special sincere thanks to long time friend, Bill Small for his regular coffee visits with Jake.
There will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place at a later date.
