We the family of Elizabeth “Lizzy” (Musseau) Bond, are saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital, at the age of 95.
Born in Moose Island, Port aux Basques, NL on August 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Caroline (Osmond) Musseau.
As a young woman of 18 years old, Lizzy left Newfoundland to come to Cape Breton where she would meet the love of her life, Russell. They married in 1944 and would raise five children. Lizzy was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She welcomed everyone with her beautiful smile and smart wit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lizzy is survived by her two sons, Don (Ann), Allan (Kathy); daughter, Susan (Carl); 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are her brother, Jim Musseau and daughters-in-law, Rodina Bond and Heather Cordero.
She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Bond; her two sons, Doug Bond, Russell Bond Jr.; two granddaughters, Darleen Holic, Tracey Bond; son-in-law, Gerard Holic; daughter-in-law, Rita Bond and several brothers and sisters.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank special friends, Kenda, Sid and Phil, along with the doctors, nurses and caregivers for all their care and support over the past few months.
Visitation for Lizzy will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Marjorie Serafinus officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
